A Nigeria-based organisation can use supported VerifyNow results as evidence in a cross-border workflow. VerifyNow does not determine whether the organisation complies with Nigeria law or certify CBN compliance. This page states the South African boundary and leaves the foreign-law decision with the organisation and its advisers.

Nigeria-regulated onboarding

The Central Bank of Nigeria does not certify a South African VerifyNow identity result. A Nigerian regulated institution may use selected evidence within its own approved programme after confirming the local rule.

  • Keep the VerifyNow result as source evidence rather than a CBN approval.
  • Apply the Nigerian institution’s policy and decision controls separately.
  • Use Nigerian primary authorities for Nigerian requirements.

FIC Act customer-due-diligence duties apply to accountable institutions listed in Schedule 1. A foreign organisation does not become subject to FICA merely because it hires, serves or verifies a South African person. Where the Act applies, the accountable institution owns its RMCP, risk rating, enhanced measures, records and reports. Use the Financial Intelligence Centre for official guidance.

POPIA applies under section 3's territorial test rather than citizenship alone. A transfer by a South African responsible party to a foreign recipient must satisfy one of section 72's permitted grounds. The Information Regulator is the official privacy source.

VerifyNow result boundary

Use only the fields returned by the selected identity, company, bank-account or screening service. Keep the source result separate from the organisation's decision. Do not infer document authentication, liveness, monitoring, storage, risk scoring or regulatory approval unless the selected service response expressly provides it.
